5 Things
Celebrate Yourself

  1. Affirm yourself.
Self-doubt is a toxic mindset and, unfortunately, waaay too common. Be intentional about affirming yourself. Here’s how: In the morning, remind yourself of something you love about YOU. At night, ask yourself, “What’s something I did well today?” This may feel weird at first, but eventually, you’ll discover that these daily exercises will help boost your self-esteem and self-confidence. Tip: Write a reminder to do this exercise on a sticky note and put it on your bathroom mirror.
  2. Honor yourself.
You may be asking, “How is honoring myself different from affirming myself?” Here’s how: Honoring yourself means forgiving yourself, keeping promises to yourself, acknowledging your wins (especially if you’re the type to downplay them), setting boundaries for yourself and being clear with the people around you about your wants and needs.
  3. Treat yourself.
A treat is anything big or small that makes you happy—and possibly something you don’t get to enjoy as often as you’d like. Here are some ideas: a manicure, carving out time to read a book, your favorite coffee drink, a staycation, a vacation, a picnic with some friends, a relaxing bath, a massage, etc. The biggest rule of treating yourself is that you do NOT need to earn it! “Because I want to” is reason enough!
  4. Cleanse yourself.
It’s easier to celebrate yourself when you feel happy and healthy. To feel happier and healthier, perform a self cleanse. No, I don’t mean take a long shower. What I mean is: cut out the toxic. Your version of “toxic” could be social media, a friend or family member who tends to suck your energy or a bad habit such as sugary foods/drinks or not getting enough sleep. What could be your first step to cleansing yourself?
  5. Grow yourself.
Commit to being a better version of you. This could mean dressing nicer, being more prepared, challenging yourself, actually working toward your goals or reading self-improvement books. It could also mean quitting. Quit complaining, quit the negative self-talk, quit doing tasks for others that make you unhappy, quit lying to yourself and quit making excuses. ::
