Builders of Wealth & Power
Arianna Burks Constructing Empires That Shifts Industries and Elevate Communities

There are seasons in a woman’s life when everything seems to be growing at once. For Arianna Burks, this is one of those seasons.

She is growing her business, Luxury Nailzz. She is preparing to release her own nail polish brand. And she is expecting her first child.

Three very different journeys are unfolding at the same time, yet they are connected by one powerful word: building. Arianna is building a business. She is building a brand. She is building something she owns. And now, as she prepares to become a mother for the first time, she is beginning to build a legacy that has an entirely new meaning.

That makes her story especially fitting for Rochester Women Magazine’s September theme, Builders of Wealth & Power: Women constructing empires that shift industries and elevate communities.

Because an empire does not always begin with millions of dollars, a corporate headquarters, or hundreds of employees. Sometimes it begins at a nail table, with an idea for your own product and sometimes it grows during a season when you are preparing to welcome the person who may one day inherit everything you are building.

Building While Becoming

Pregnancy has a way of making the future feel different.

For Arianna, expecting her first child comes during a pivotal moment in her entrepreneurial journey. While preparing for motherhood, she is also thinking about the future of Luxury Nailzz and preparing to move beyond services by introducing a nail polish brand of her own.

That combination makes this chapter about more than business growth. It is about legacy.

There is something powerful about becoming a mother while building something you own. Suddenly, the decisions you make today can carry meaning far beyond yourself. The business is no longer only about what it can provide right now. It can become something her child grows up watching her build. Her child will have the opportunity to see a mother who took her creativity seriously. A mother who understood that her talent could generate income. A mother who did not only purchase beauty products but created one of her own. A mother who understood ownership. A mother who was willing to take an idea and find out how far she could take it. That example is part of generational wealth too.

Redefining Generational Wealth

We often define generational wealth by what we leave behind financially. Property, investments, businesses, savings or assets. Those things absolutely matter. But generational wealth also begins with what children grow up believing is possible.

Imagine growing up watching your mother build a company.

Imagine entrepreneurship being part of your earliest understanding of work. Imagine hearing conversations about products, customers, pricing, marketing, ownership, and growth before you are even old enough to understand what those words mean.

That exposure matters. Arianna’s child will enter a world where Mommy owning a business is simply normal. And there is power in normalizing ownership for the next generation. Before we can leave our children businesses and assets, we can leave them something equally important.

The expectation that they are capable of creating and owning something too.

That is where legacy begins. And I would change the ending of the story to:

She Is Building More Than a Brand

This chapter of Arianna’s life is just beginning. There is a baby she has yet to meet. A nail polish brand the world has yet to experience. Customers she has yet to serve. Products she has yet to create. Business lessons she has yet to learn. And dreams she may not have even dreamed yet. That is the beauty of being in the building stage. We often wait until someone has reached the top before we decide their story is worth telling. But Rochester Women Magazine has always believed there is power in telling women’s stories while they are still becoming, while they are still taking risks, still learning, still creating, still figuring things out or still laying the foundation and Arianna Burks is doing exactly that.

She is preparing for motherhood while continuing to build Luxury Nailzz and preparing to introduce a product bearing the identity of the brand she created.

One day, her child will be able to look back at this photograph and see more than a beautiful maternity image. They will see their mother at the beginning of something. Building a business. Building a brand. Building ownership. Building a family. Building a legacy.

And perhaps that is the most powerful kind of wealth there is.
