This month, we honor Lisa Becker, Community School Facilitator, artist, and unwavering light in our local ecosystem of care. To call Lisa a resource would be an understatement. She is a connector, a quiet architect of support whose work often happens behind the scenes and beyond the call of duty. Whether she’s picking up concrete resources for families after hours or stepping in with a calming presence during moments of chaos, Lisa moves through her community with intention and deep compassion.
In my own journey as a Family Advocate, Lisa had been more than a colleague, she’s an anchor. Her consistency, her creativity, and her generous spirit have modeled what it looks like to show up fully for others. She leads with heart, and her art. Whether through relationships or the pieces she creates, Lisa reflects a profound understanding of what it means to belong and be seen.
Lisa’s impact on our community extends far beyond her role as a Community School Facilitator. She is a true collaborator, a creative force, and a bridge builder. One of the most memorable examples of her dedication was how she helped coordinate youth participation in the Voices Friendly Art project. It wasn’t just about placing art on a projector. Lisa made sure our students’ stories and expressions were honored in a space that reflected their voices and creativity.
She also bring artists and educators into the fold to lead things like sewing and threading lessons for our youth. The experience left a lasting impression on the children and adults alike. With Lisa’s support, the students not only gained a new skill, but also a sense of pride and accomplishment in creating something with their own hands.
Lisa’s ability to see the potential in every idea and every child is a gift. She leads with quiet power, consistently going above and beyond to meet the needs of families. She is both a source of inspiration and a steady presence, and it’s an honor to recognize her as this month’s Give Her Flowers honoree.
