As a woman running for public office, what legacy do you hope your candidacy leaves for the next generation of women and girls in our community?
The legacy I want to leave is one of hope, empowerment, and resilience. I want future generations to inherit a community where people stand together, respect one another’s differences, treat each other with dignity, and have the courage to advocate for themselves and their neighbors.
I also want to help people recognize that they have the power to create change right now. When residents use their voices, engage in their communities, and work together, they can shape the future of their city and influence change throughout the state, nation, and world.
What do you hope another woman or young girl sees in you that gives her the courage to believe, “If she can do it, so can I”?
I hope that other women and girls see possibility for themselves the way I see it for myself. I am a leader who is bold, passionate, and willing to learn from others. I want others to believe that our circumstances do not define our future and that leadership is not reserved for people with certain backgrounds, titles, or experiences. With determination and support from our communities, we are capable of far more than we sometimes believe. If my journey helps even one person think, “If she can do it, so can I,” then I have made a meaningful difference.
