September Business Spotlight

Each month, Rochester Women Magazine shines a spotlight on women-owned businesses in our community. This space is dedicated to helping our readers discover the women behind local businesses, learn about the services they provide, and find new ways to support women in business.

This month’s Business Spotlight features Chanda Komatsu, Attorney at Law, ACHLA, and Peace & Compassion Birth Services.

Get to know their businesses, discover what they offer, and remember—supporting women-owned businesses strengthens our entire community.

Community. Connection. Content.

Chanda Komatsu, Attorney at Law, brings over 30 years of deep legal experience to her Rochester, Minnesota boutique practice, Chanda Komatsu Law, LLC. Built on a foundation of calm, plain-language guidance, her firm helps families and business owners protect what matters most through two core practice areas: estate planning and worldwide trademark protection.

By crafting tailored wills, trusts, and legacy plans for clients across Minnesota, alongside clearing, registering, and maintaining federal USPTO trademarks for both domestic and international businesses, Chanda provides the steady legal hand needed to secure physical assets, defend brand identity, and preserve long-term peace of mind.

Julie Herrera-Lemler, Vice President of the Alliance for Chicanos, Hispanics, and Latin Americans (ACHLA), plays a vital leadership role in empowering immigrant and migrant families across Rochester and southeastern Minnesota. Operating as a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ACHLA focuses on core pillars including education, economic development, civic engagement, and a compass of care to ensure that Latino families have equitable access to resources, culturally appropriate support, and community leadership opportunities.

Through her work with the organization—championing initiatives ranging from youth tutoring and health programs to major cultural celebrations like Latino Fest—Julie helps foster an environment where community members can thrive, build collective strength, and shape a more inclusive regional future.Psalms Frye is a certified birth doula, black maternal health justice advocate, and the founder of Peace And Compassion Birth Services, LLC (PAC Birth Services), serving expecting families throughout Rochester, Minnesota and the Twin Cities area.
