Trying New Things, Writing an Article and More!
Summer 2023 Intern Updates

This past week has been so amazing in terms of growing my knowledge and overcoming some small obstacles. For example, part of my job as an intern this summer is to manage the articles that will go up on the website. I come up with the ideas, pitch them to Erin and Emily, set the due dates and send out assignments to writers.

Figuring out how to schedule when to send them out, how long to give the writers and when to have them go live on the website seemed so overwhelming at first! But, I was able to successfully show Emily and Erin my plan, and they thought it looked good to go.

It made me realize how much we can limit ourselves by not pushing past a mental barrier that we put on ourselves. Sometimes, things can seem really overwhelming, especially when we are in unfamiliar territory, and it can seem intimidating to try your hand at something new. But, by putting in some effort and giving it an honest try, you can really surprise yourself with what you are capable of!

In other news, I wrote and published my first article of this internship all about Ways to Support Your LGBTQ+ Loved One, if you are interested in checking it out (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). Part of my job this summer is to write at least one article a week, so be on the lookout for those in upcoming weeks!

This article was very important for me to write because although we are fortunate enough to live in a state that vows to protect LGBTQ+ rights, there are a lot of people that still look upon those in the community with hatred. This article shows how to support your LGBTQ+ loved one as they may feel emotions of fear, sadness and isolation. It felt especially important to write given some of the recent events happening, and I wanted to make sure people are aware of how to best support their loved ones this Pride month!

These coming weeks, I will be doing a lot of assignment writing, article writing and working on some aspects of this year’s business directory. I have also been put in charge of planning a super fun project that will happen in early August!

As for my personal life, I will finally be seeing Taylor Swift this Friday and I am BEYOND excited! I also have been keeping busy working my other jobs and enjoying the hot sun. My roommates and I recently went to visit the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, and it was so beautiful! I highly recommend it if you are wanting to spend some time in nature and see some beautiful flower gardens.

Check out my pride month article, and I will be back to update again next week!
