In Her Own Words

  1. What is your name?
    Jessi Hafeman
  2. Occupation
Research Coordinator at Mayo Clinic by day. I also have a secret identity (okay, you dragged it out of me. Pen name: J. Lynn Else) as a part-time writer. I’m currently writing and illustrating a children’s book with a publisher from Houston, Texas. I also write YA fantasy, historical fiction, and sci fi.
  3. Where are you from and where do you currently live?
I was born in Moose Lake MN. In 1988, my family moved to Rochester. I started my 4th grade year at Gage Elementary. After high school (Go Rockets!), I moved to Eau Claire WI, then Door County WI (to work as a box office manager for an outdoor theater company), back to Rochester MN, Eau Claire WI for a few years again, and back to Rochester a final time.
  4. What do you love about southeast Minnesota?
The fall colors, sitting in a hammock under the foliage and reading a book. White Christmases (then the ‘white’ can go away. Got that Mother Nature? Christmas, then gone). Our supportive local writers and artists communities. Finally, our history of strong, intelligent men and women who helped to build up this area. We have such a foundation of service and compassion here.
