- What is your name?
Melissa Hindermann - A little about you
New Outreach Coordinator and Event Director for Rochester Women Magazine. American Sign Language interpreting student. Writer. Dog mom. Wife. My hobbies include board games, reading, rock climbing, and music. My mission is to cultivate fun and positive energy wherever I go. - What does “bravery” mean to you?
Bravery is being authentic to yourself and to others. - Tell us about a time you were brave.
I recently walked away from an eight-year career that I LOVED. It was hard due to a change of income, lifestyle, and having to cut relationships/ties with people I once thought were loving people to all. When the community of “leaders” in that company showed me that they were not the type of people I was proud to represent due to their exclusive views on race, the LGBTQ+ community, and more, I decided that
walking away was the best choice for me. Now, I work within a community of strong, inclusive women who not only care about people of color but are actively working to share their unique stories! - What makes you brave now?
Always striving to be the best version of me! - We all know brave people. Who in your life is brave and why?
My sister, Amy, is brave. Everyday, she battles with depression and anxiety, yet
everyday, she does something to move herself forward and live a better, healthier life.
