May/June 2024 Family Issue

Ah, family. So much love with a few challenges thrown in. My family consists of biological relations, but also “framily,” a term coined by my friend, Amy. These are friends who are chosen family. Our feature story delves into how Jacque’s Kyle’s definition of family expands to include those with shared values in meaningful relationships, which are important to her as she raises her son.

Family is constantly changing. Learn about a local family that intentionally grew through adoption. Adding a new baby adds a lot of change – get 5 tips for things to think about when bringing home a new baby. Learn how one family has used communication to navigate a transition.

Any relationship takes work to maintain and strengthen. Get some tips to strengthen family bonds and find activities to do together with On Trend. Chop up some food together with Amy Krause’s recipes and cultivate strong connections through gardening as a family.

This issue’s theme of family was chosen to coincide with the official launch of our sister site, Parenthood. We are thrilled about this platform for storytelling about all stages of parenting that will ease the loneliness and struggles that parenthood brings. Rochester Women Magazine is all about fostering connections, and this is yet another way we are working to strengthen our community.
